Goodbye to ‘Las Chicas’

We said a fond farewell to Astrid and Sophie this week, who both joined us for a few months to help us through the busy season. Aside from bringing a touch of glamour and youthfulness to the estancia (so we were told by guests . . .Lou & Kevin are trying not to be too offended!) we would particularly like to thank Sophie for her work with the young foals and Astrid for some superb photos of the estancia - coming to a picturebook near you soon! (You can see more of Astrid`s work at www.astridharrisson.com)

Many thanks to you both, and best wishes from us all at Los Pots!

Out on the trail . . .

Last week a group of intrepid guests headed out north into the Sierras Chicas for a mini-trail ride, ably led by Kevin and, of course, Little Joe. Basing themselves at the infamous homestead of Chiche & Menta’s, the trail involved a days ‘exploratory’ ride, with Chiche leading the willing victims . . .er, I mean guests . . .on a magical mystery tour of the surrounding countryside. I think it would be fair to say that the day was perhaps a little more ‘exploratory’ than originally envisaged, and eventually Kevin had to hand over to Little Joe to make sure that our intrepid explorers got back to camp in one piece and before Easter!! All credit as always to our wonderful sure-footed horses, who took the rather dramatic rocky ascents and descents in their stride as though it was just another day at the office . . .

I’ll let the pictures do the talking . . .

It all started out quite civilised . . .

. . .with time to enjoy the scenery and even take a little dip . . .

. . .and then Chiche started to look a little less convincing . . .

. . .but on the demolition and re-building of the third or fourth historic Jesuit stone wall, Little Joe took over and delivered everyone safely home . . .

. . .much to Kevin’s obvious relief!
